Prof. Müller-Nedebock is a full professor at Stellenbosch University (SU), Department of Physics, South Africa. His main field of research is in physics of polymers and biological systems using theoretical and computational techniques. A considerable part of his interests is in physics of biological structures at cellular and sub-cellular length-scales, statistical physics of the cytoskeleton, statistical physics and dynamics of organelles (e.g. in mitochrondria, autophagy). He graduated with a PhD in Physics in 1996 at St John’s College, University of Cambridge (United Kingdom) and he spent several years at the Max Planck Institute for Polymer Research, Mainz, Germany. He was a Council member of the South African Institute of Physics during the years 2013–2015. He was the Head of the Department of Physics at SU from 2018 until 2023. He was a IUPAP C6 Commission member and Deputy Director of the National Institute for Theoretical and Computational Sciences of South Africa until March 2022. Prof. Müller-Nedebock has successfully supervised 8 doctoral students and 10 Masters students.
