Prof. Mesfin Tsige

Prof. Tsige is a full professor at the University Akron, Department of Polymer Science (United States, USA). His main field of research is in Physics of Polymers. One of his interests is in studying Screening Tools (using ML) for Predicting Immune Response to Polymers Designed for Soft Implantable Devices. He took his PhD in Physics in 2001 at Case Western Reserve University, Cleveland (USA). He was a Post-doctoral Fellow at Sandia National Laboratories, New Mexico (USA) in the years 2001-2004 and an Assistant Professor/Associate Professor at Southern Illinois University (USA) in the years 2005-2011. He holds positions as Adjunct Professor in the same University and at the University of Addis Abeba (Ethiopia). He got an Outstanding Researcher Award Career Achievement in Research from the University of Akron in 2022-2023 and he is currently the recipient/PI of several research project funded by the National Science Foundation (NSF) of US, and Burroughs-Wellcome for more than 2 million US dollars. Prof. Tsige has successfully supervised 25 doctoral/Masters students and has published more than 150 scientific articles, featuring an H-index 28 and nearly 3000 citations.
