Prof. Soliman is a full Professor at the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), and the Head and principal investigator of Molecular Bio-Computation and Drug Design Laboratory. Soliman’s lab is fully equipped with cutting-edge facilities and instruments spanning from one of the state-of-the-art High Performance Computing Facilities, Biochemical analytical tools, plant extraction unit, nanoparticle formulation facility, in vivo and in vitro facilities, etc. He joined the School of Health Sciences at UKZN in 2012, after completing his postgraduate studies (MPhil/PhD – 2010) at the University of Bath, United Kingdom, in areas of molecular modeling, bioinformatics, computational biology, (cancer) disease targets and drug design. Prof. Soliman served the position as the Dean of the School of Health Sciences for six years in 2015-2020. During his academic career in South Africa, he attracted 17 research grants for several millions of South African Rands (ZAR), and he has been permanently amongst the most productive researchers in His campus since 2013. He had numerous editorial appointments for several scientific Journals. To date he has published over 350 scientific articles, with around 6000 citations, featuring an H-index over 34. He supervised successfully more than 100 students at the doctoral and Masters level.
