Prof. Ross Stuart Robinson

Prof. Robinson is a full professor at the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN), Department of Chemistry and Physics, South Africa. His main field of research is in Synthetic Chemistry. His research group is recently studying the synthesis of medicinal compounds directed towards their application as potential agents in “Boron Neutron Capture Therapy”. He attained his PhD in Organic Chemistry in 1998 at Rhodes University (South Africa) and he was appointed as a Lecturer in the same year at the University of Natal (Pietermaritzburg, South Africa). He was Academic Leader of Research in the School of Chemistry and Physics at UKZN in the years 2012-2014, and the Dean and Head of the same School in the years 2014-2024. He delivered the biannual 2023 Royal Society Frank Warren Lecture organized by the Royal Society Western Cape. He was the PI of several projects funded by SASOL, ESKOM, Petroleum Agency SA, National Research Foundation (NRF) of South Africa. He is a member of the South African Chemical Institute and of the Royal Society of Chemistry. Prof. Robinson has successfully supervised 7 doctoral students and 20 Masters students.
